Recently, a federal judge sentenced the co-owner of several Tampa Bay pain management clinics to 10 years of prison. 44-year-old Troy Wubbena was accused of conspiring to traffic in oxycodone said the US attorney's office.
Wubbena was a physician's assistance and the co-owner of Neurology & Pain Center clinics which are located in Tampa, Lakeland, Sarasota, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg and Orlando.
According to prosecutors, the defendant used pre-signed prescription pads to write illegal orders for oxycodone in the names of patients that he did not know. The drugs were then obtained from local pharmacies and sold on the street for money.
On January 14th, Wubbena pled guilty to conspiracy and faces sentencing on October 1st for pleading guilty to conspiracy to prescribe oxycodone illegally and conspiracy to defraud Medicare.
