DNA Used to Track Down Sex Crimes Suspect

Police used DNA this week to track down a man and arrest him for various sex crimes.
According to the Tampa Police department, the suspect, 28-year-old Charles Newbold, was taken into custody on charges of battery and sexual battery. After examining the DNA evidence from a woman whose house he entered and then attacked, police were able to link Newbold's DNA to that found at the scene.
This isn't the first time that Newbold has found himself behind bars. However, his previous offenses were mainly drug related, not sex crimes. Since his DNA was already on file from those previous offenses, the Tampa Police department was able to pin him down as a lead suspect in the rape case.
