When police went to visit a home for a possible child neglect situation, the officers found that several offenses had been committed. Now, the suspect is in custody not only on two charges of child neglect, but over 50 counts of animal abuse as well. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department received a tip about possible child neglect at the home of suspect C.C. What the officers discovered at the home reportedly shocked them.
The 46-year-old woman was living with her two daughters, ages 13 and 11, in filth. They were surrounded by animal feces and garbage. A total of one rabbit, seven birds, and 22 dogs were found at the house. Officers with the county animal unit came and took away all of the animals for treatment. Some of the animals were in such terrible shape that they may not survive the treatment period. The two girls are now in state custody until the court decides who will care for them.
