Late Night Shooting on Davis Island
A man was recently shot in the million-dollar home of a Davis Island woman. Days before, the woman wasm denied an anti-stalking order of protection against the man.
In the middle of the night on August 19, a man called 911 and said he had been shot in the chest. A short time later, 911 received another call from a woman claiming that she had shot an intruder. When police arrived at the scene, a man with a single gunshot wound to the chest was found lying on the second floor. He was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening. It is unclear why the man was in the home but the woman stated that he used to be a friend of hers.
Anti-Stalking Order Sought Days Before
According to reports, the woman filed an anti-stalking protection before the incident. She claims that the man had spent an hour following her car, aggressively driving next to her and eventually hitting her car. Police had reportedly warned the man not to contact the woman after she called law enforcement that day.
The woman says that the man then called and sent her threatening text messages, detailing harm to her and her family. The man has been arrested twice before, once for a domestic violence charge and once for failing to appear in court.
It is instances like this when a having a criminal defense lawyer on your side can provide the defense needed during a difficult case such as this one. Considering the man may be facing conviction under Florida's three strikes law, an attorney can save the man a lifetime in prison.
