KEY WEST, Fla. – Nick Carter, one of the infamous members of the
boy band, Backstreet Boys, was just trying to enjoy his vacation when
he was arrested for allegedly grabbing a bouncer’s throat.
Carter, 35, and a friend were drinking at a Florida Keys bar. According
to a police report, the pair became intoxicated to the point that they
were denied service. This angered Carter and his friend, and their behavior
turned aggressive. In response, bar employees decided to escort them off
As the pair were being escorted from the bar Wednesday evening, Carter
allegedly grabbed the bouncer’s throat. Carter was arrested and
now he’s facing a charge for misdemeanor battery. On Thursday, he
posted $1,500 bail.
As Carter left the Monroe County Detention Center, the singer told re porters
that he was “just a guy trying to enjoy some vacation time”
in Key West, the
Key West Citizen reports.
The judge presiding over Carter’s case made it clear that she would
not be tolerating their drunken behavior. Judge Ruth Becker issued orders
prohibiting the men from drinking alcohol or returning to the bar, the
scene of the arrest.
Carter’s career began at the young age of 12, and he became an international
star when he became the youngest member of Backstreet Boys. He is a philanthropist
and author, and has been involved in a number of projects on TV and film.
He was named as one of
People’s “50 Most Beautiful People in the World,” and “The Biggest
Teen Idol” by
Teen People Magazine. In 2015, he announced that he would be co-writing, directing and starring
