Arrest Made in Punta Gorda Bank Robbery Case

A man was recently arrested by Punta Gorda police detectives in connection with a bank robbery that occurred mid-March.

Police reports indicate that at around 4pm on March 17th a man entered a credit union waving a handgun, making threats for everyone to get on the floor and for the tellers to give him money. While no one was injured during the robbery, surveillance revealed the man was wearing body armor.

The man had prior convictions for bank robbery, having just been released after a ten-year prison sentence. He reportedly faces charges for armed robbery, grand theft, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
