New Statistics Show Crimes is Down Hillsborough County

For the sixth year in a row, deputies have been able to reduce the overall crime rate in Hillsborough County. The rate in 2011 was 7.2 percent higher than the total crime rate in 2012. Hillsborough County has approximately 848,660 residents and only 21.617 of those residents were victims of crime in 2011. In 2012, there were only 20,072 victims of various crimes within the county. There are approximately 1.5 deputies per 1,000 residents in Hillsborough County and this is lower than the national average, yet the crime rates in Hillsborough are better than the crime rates in many other cities with larger police forces.
