Suspect Arrested after a Violent Robbery

Recently, 19 year old J.D.S. was arrested after having robbed and injured 62 year old B.O. at the Regency Shopping Center in Brandon. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received numerous tips from Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, as well as assistance from various media outlets. J.D.S. was located at his residence and was taken into custody without incident. His charges included robbery greater than $300, fraudulent use of a credit card over $100 (five counts), and fraudulent use of a credit card less than $100.

J.D.S. approached the victim as she was walking to the movie theater. When the victim wouldn't give up her purse, J.D.S. forced her to the ground, and proceeded to punk and kick her body and face, and then left the scene with her purse. The total value of the property that was taken from the victim is valued at $3,010. The victim suffered broken bones because of the robbery.

Within three hours of the robbery, J.D.S. used the victim's credit card at Walmart and a Mobile station. He then made four separate attempts to use the victim's credit card at Kmart, but all transactions were declined. The defendant then returned to the Mobile station, where he was declined a transaction and was positively identified on video surveillance.
