In Tampa, Florida, it has been reported that two alleged ringleaders of a sexual assault in the locker room of a Tampa area middle school will spend the next five years of their lives on adult probation.
According to area prosecutors, they allowed the boys to plead guilty to lesser charges in order to avoid a trial that no one wanted. The boys are now between the ages of 15 and 16.
The victim told police officers that the four defendants held him down in a locker room and then penetrated him with a broomstick and a hockey stick in May 2009. The incident took place inside of Walker Middle School after numerous weeks of bullying. The boys were flag-football teammates at the school, which is located in Odessa, Florida.
Two of the defendants pled guilty to third-degree felony battery this past Wednesday. The other two defendants had settled their cases with plea agreements and adult probation.
