Pinellas Park Man Arrested for DUI Manslaughter in 2012 Accident

A man from Pinellas Park, Florida was arrested last Friday for the DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in a car accident that occurred last year. According to local police reports, the warrant was issued by the prosecutors last May for the arrest of the 45 year old man, though it took 10 months for everything to be in place before the arrest could officially happen. This accident occurred on January 12, 2012, killing an 84 year old woman who was trying to turn left when her car was allegedly hit by the suspect. She died as a result of the collision. The local town authorities claim that the accident was a result of the male driver being under the influence of alcohol while also driving at the time with a suspended license.

DUI manslaughter charges can result in up to a $10,000 fine as well as 15 years behind bars if the driver is convicted for their actions. however, depending on the circumstances of the accident, if the court deems that the actions were "aggravated" such as in the event the driver fled the scene of the crime, the individual could be looking at twice the time behind bars.
