Thefts at Construction Supplier Lead to Arrests

Several men were arrested in connection with thefts at a construction site over the past few weeks. One of the men has been charged with grand theft over $100,000 and dealing in stolen property, as well as defrauding a secondary metal recycler. Another man has been charged with grand theft and possession of marijuana, and a third faces charges for grand theft over $100,000, dealing in stolen property, and defrauding a secondary metal recycler. A fourth man faces those three charges in addition with a VOP-DV Injunction, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and possession of marijuana.

The men all targeted southwestern suppliers, a Tampa company which supplies construction materials for projects in the area. The men were taking steel re-bar from the site, and were selling it as scrap metal at O.U. metals for a profit. The individual that was spearheading the operation was a foreman at Southwestern Suppliers.
